Campers must arrive at the Brown Education Center (through Gate 5) between 5:45pm and 6:00pm.

How long will the event last?

This is an overnight trip that will last until 10:00am on Saturday morning.

What should we bring/What are the details?

REGISTRATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE DECEMBER 2007 PACK MEETING.  ONE SCOUT/ONE ADULT ALLOWED, AS SPACE IS LIMITED.  ADDITIONAL ADULTS/SIBLINGS MAY BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST.  PAYMENT OF $45 PER PERSON IS DUE AT THE DECEMBER 2007 PACK MEETING TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE.

Thank you for your interest in the Houston Zoo’s Wild Winks program, generously supported by Exxon Mobil.  Your troop is scheduled to attend a Wild Winks program on 03/07/08.  Please take a moment to read the following tips to make your trip safe, comfortable and fun.

·          Only registered participants of the appropriate age will be admitted.  All participants must be registered at least 2 weeks prior to the program date.  Absolutely no late registrations will be accepted.

·          Please arrive between 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. Construction in the Texas Medical Center may affect traffic flow in and around Hermann Park and the Zoo.  Traffic advisories are posted on the Zoo’s Web site at http://www.houstonzoo.org/index.asp?page_ID=609

·          Park in the main Zoo parking lot and enter through Gate 5.  Look for Gate 5 on the left as you enter the parking lot.  A Zoo staff member will greet you at the gate.

·          Please bring your luggage and sleeping bags to the Brown Education Center, located just inside Gate 5.

·          When all participants have arrived, drivers will be escorted by a Zoo staff member and move their cars to a secure overnight parking lot inside the Zoo.  Please be sure to take everything you will need out of your car, as you will not be able to return to your car until the following morning.

·          Tents, though provided by the Zoo, will be put up by participants with guidance from the Zoo staff.  NOTE:  Due to space limitations, only very small mats are allowed – please do not bring blow-up mattresses or cots.

·          Our evening activities begin at 6:30pm with our meal.  Plan to stay until 10:00am the following day.  Zoo gates are locked and may only be opened in an emergency.

·          Dress for the weather!  You will be outside for much of the evening rain or shine.

·          Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, comfortable walking shoes, toiletries, sleepwear appropriate for the weather, and a change of clothing for the next day.  Although restrooms are available, there are no shower facilities.

·          The program ends promptly at 10:00 am on the second day.  A light breakfast will be served prior to the morning activities.  All Wild Winks participants are welcome to stay at the Zoo following the program.

·          This program is for ages 7 and older.  A parent or guardian must accompany registered children.

Refunds: The Houston Zoo reserves the right to issue a full refund and cancel a class that does not meet minimum enrollment 7 days prior to the program date.  Patrons who cancel a program in writing 10 or more days before the program date will receive a 60% refund.  Programs cancelled by patrons less than 10 days before the program date are not eligible for refunds.
